Alan, the town crier for 31 years, was known around the world and was a great ambassador for the town. An MBE and Freeman of the Borough, he attended thousands of events, from opening shops and starting the Pancake Day or New Year's Day festivities to ceremonial duties and (whisper it !) as Santa in Boyes! He was one of the most photographed people by our team over the years ... always with a trademark smile on his face. Enjoy this pictorial lookback - our own tribute to a lovely man.
