A RECORD number of riders have taken part in the Wold Newton horse and pony show organised by the Middleton Hunt (East Side) Pony Club and held at Bridge Farm, Wold Newton, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Sutton.

Riders of all ages competed in a range of categories, including worker hunter, pony show jumping, horse show jumping, and showing and the event was open to pony club members and non-club members.

Lynn Cottingham, of Middleton Pony Club, said: "We thought it was a huge success, we think it ran very well.

"We had a lot of entries and a lot of happy children. We had a large age range from tiny children through to adults taking part."

Members of the pony club are already looking towards next year's event and club secretary Debbie Grey hopes the weather will be just as good.

Ms Gray added: "We had a glorious sunny day for it and we received a record number of entries.

"We try and have something for everyone and will be doing it again at the same time, same place next year."
