A funeral service was held at the East Riding Crematorium on Thursday, November 10 for Mrs Bernice Muriel Webster, of Atwick, who died on the November 1 at the of 91.

The service was conducted by the Rev Steven Knapton and the organist was Mr Dick Robinson.

Mrs Webster was born in Canada and moved to England to live with her Auntie Phyllis at an early age, when both her parents died.

Following education, she joined the land Army and worked at Muston where she joined Muston YFC and met Rex Elliott and they married in 1947.

They farmed at Scagglethorpe and horses and hunting where always the love of their lives.

In 1957 they moved to live in Bewholme, where Muriel worked on the farm. She attended the Bewholme Church and was a member of the WI.

Hunting and shows were always part of their weekly routine.

Sadly Rex died of Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 52 and Muriel continued to farm at Bewholme.

Through her land army connections she met John Webster and they became firm friends and married in 1985. They lived at Virginia Lodge, Atwick but unfortumately John passed away in 2009. Muriel was fiercly independent and continued to live there until her death.

She was truly an outdoor person continuing to take an active interest in her dogs, horses and the Holderness Hunt until her death.

She is survived by two sons, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
