A SELL-out gala evening of entertainment at Beverley Memorial Hall raised more than £1,500 in aid of the hall restoration fund.

Some of Beverley's most promising young entertainers took part in the Cream of Coward event, which included a gala dinner and cabaret-style presentation inspired by the wit and music of Noel Coward.

A cast of 14 took part in the Other Lives' production of readings, excerpts from Coward's plays, films and the songs.

The audience of 129 diners enjoyed the supper prepared by caterer Anthea Frow and her team, and many joined in the fun by dressing in the style of the 1920s, 30s and 40s.
