Monday September 29 saw the presentation of a variety of 15 awards to employees.

The food safety standard adopted by Muntons has been developed in-house and encompasses all aspects of food hygiene, personnel hygiene and good manufacturing practice. It has been developed to meet the expectations of their food and drink customers, who demand high levels of hygiene to be maintained for personnel and plant.

Food safety certificates were not the only awards to be handed out. There were also Hands on COSHH certificates (control of substances hazardous to health), Asbestos Recognition Management Course and Level Two - NVQ Food & Drink Manufacturing Operations

Speaking to Tony Birch, warehouse team leader, who received his Hands on COSHH certificate after the presentation, he expressed 'These additional qualifications are a good way of rewarding the employees of the company by furthering their education.'

Terrance Buxton who received Level Two - NVQ Food & Drink Manufacturing Operations certificate was really pleased with his achievement. He said ' I found that doing this qualification really helped me to understand my job role. There was no paper work involved, which is great - it really suited me, the assessor did this. It was mainly accessed practically, Graham Sutton, Muntons NVQ assessor, would supervise whilst I was working, and he would even be there when I hadn't even noticed offering helpful tips as to how to improve in what I was doing!'

Muntons are committed to maintaining the highest standard for hygiene. Our Stowmarket plant is certified to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) global food standard and all the malt that we sell is produced under the independently audited Assured UK malt scheme. We are certified under the ISO 9001/2000, ISO 22000: 2005 quality assurance and ISO 14001: 2004 environmental schemes."
