A166 not dangerous: it's the drivers

Re your article 'A166 a good road'. I travel on the A166 Driffield to York road five days per week communting to and from work.
I agree with police officer Glen Dennis that the road isn't a dangerous road at all. It is the drivers who are dangerous.

The quality of driving on that road is horrendous. I travel on there between 7.30am and 8.15am and then on an evening betwee
n 5.45pm and 6.30pm and I see lots of first class idiots.

You would think fuel was cheap the way some of them burn it away.
People on the road do not have a clue what speed limits, hidden dips and double white lines are all about.

I have to say though Glen Dennis states how the road has a high profile of policing. I can count on one hand in the two years I have been travelling to York and back how many times I have seen a police officer parked up.

This is the top and bottom of all the trouble - we are not policed on the roads sufficently.

These idiots would slow down if a few police officers got out on the road a bit more.

The amount of cars I have counted that have come off the road is a disgrace. They just do not have control of a car at all.
Police like to say in the papers how they are having a crackdown, but let us face it, they don't at all.

I see regular drivers on that road that are using mobile phones every day. This is another thing that needs cracking down on.

I think it is time everybody just slowed down a bit on that road, especially the big heads with the BMW's and the gas guzzling vehicles.

You are on a single track road, not a motorway, and fuel is too expesive to be burning up like that. You are putting everyone's lives at risk and if I were a police officer I would be out there on that road and I would take you off the road because you are not fit to be behind the wheel.

The A166 is not a dangerous road, it is a good road but is one of the worst roads for idiots. And it isn't just young drivers that are crazy in cars, it is middle aged women and men who should know better.

Usually, when I reach York, the ones that have overtaken me are in front of me at the lights at Stamford Bridge. What a waste of energy.
It is time the police did something out there. The road needs policing the most out of all the roads round the East Riding.

Statistics are always saying the A1079 to York is bad, least there are more speed limits to slow everyone down and I don't think there are as many crazy drivers on there as the A166.
