Referring to Councillor Barbara Hall's position as chairman of ERYC NHS Overview and Scrutiny Committee, conflicting with her position as chairman of the Driffield Hospital Defence League.

Firstly, the Driffield Hospital Defence League (DHDL) is an independent group so it is no business of Mr Poessl's as to whom is the chairman.

The DHDL has now been active for the last 25 years. It was formed by people from all walks of life. Some being councillors some being EY Borough Councillors and is dedicated, in trying to support Driffield Hospitals and other health issues.

But sometimes we do not succeed and some of our aims are frustratingly out of reach.

Secondly, when Mrs Hall first considered to stand as a East Riding councillor she turned to the DHDL for our advice and opinions. She felt she could get closer to the town's issues, particularly issues on health and our hospital.

We the DHDL gave her our wholehearted support and encouragement.

At every meeting Councillor Hall attends she always declares her interest.

Mrs Hall dedicates many hours of her time to this town.

I cannot begin to understand why Mr Poessl can even consider that Mrs Hall is in conflict with the Defence League. She did everything in her power to retain the beds at Alfred Bean. But was out-voted. Only herself and Hornsea voted against closure.

Because only Driffield and Hornsea beds were under threat.

Mr Poessl, I did not see you or a representative of the town at the two recent meetings for commissioning services at Scarborough Hospital.

Many Driffield people receive acute treatment at Scarborough.

Also, I did not see Mr Poessl, among the 6,000 people at Bridlington, marching to save cardiac services for Bridlington and Driffield.

It is so sad, that all those dedicated town councillors who try very hard to support the town are continually undermined.

When the town elected Mrs Hall to the EY council she had an overwhelming landslide majority.
