I WOULD like to express thanks to Northern Rail for extending the summer Sunday train service by two weeks until the end of September, on the Yorkshire Wolds Coast Line linking Hull, Driffield, Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough, at their own expense.
We used the train on Sunday, travelling to Driffield. How lovely the station looks freshly painted and with nice flower beds and planters.
The trains on both Sundays were well supported. They enabled thousands of extra 'green' journeys to be made, both day trips and weekend breaks utilising these extra services.

A summer Sunday train service benefits the East Coast greatly, with 26 services, most through trains to and from South Yorkshire, and half providing a coastal link to Filey and Scarborough. This is great news for the local tourist economy at these difficult times.

Northern Rail are to be commended in putting on this trial, along with many others around the north of England.

This has demonstrated that extra services will be used if provided and it is a way of enhancing the tourist economy on the East Coast, without adding more traffic to the road network.
