Your recent issue which featured my wife, Maureen's successful weight loss, inspired me to pen this poem to encourage others in a similar situation to consider attending a Slimming World group.
Battle of the bulge

Some weigh in and leave before each session
Some folks stay on and make
an impression
For some Slimming World is a
pleasant place
To meet fellow members and a
familiar face

Some people never admit to
have sinned
Swearing blind that all fat
foods have been binned
But when they put on weight they
go berserk
And moan it's not their fault,
the scales don't work

Others even weigh in totally obsessed
Nothing for breakfast, arriving half dressed
Removing earrings and cutting their nails
In vain attempts to weigh less on the scales

Some skip proper meals to prove they don't cheat
But twixt meal times, cookies and cakes they eat
Some need keeping on the straight
and narrow
Maggie suggests cabbage, swede and marrow

Strict diets deny chocolate seduction
Green or red days for most weight reduction
Several stone losses is a goal some seek
Encouraged by winning Slimmer of the Week

If you need to avoid food temptation
Go join Slimming World for
inspiration
A consultant advises what you do
So seek out a club in a town
near you.

Today's Vote

Do you expect the credit crunch crisis to alter before Christmas?
Yes, I think it will ease
No - I think it will get worse
I think it will be a long time before it sorts itself out
