Irene Benson, of North Frodingham, writes . . .
MY visit to Sugarshack (and my thanks to the shop assistant).
I travelled to Driffield yesterday, an anniversary present to find
The gift to be of iron or candy, what to purchase blew my mind
My thoughts first turned to iron, but no vibes fo
r that appear
So I decided on candy as the gift to give this year
My childhood days came flooding back
As I stepped inside the Sugarshack
To my amazement and utter surprise
Sweets of all varieties appeared before my eyes
I looked around and what I saw
Were jars of sweets, from ceiling to floor
On shelves, small tables and counter top
Millions of sweets in one small shop
Then a choice I had to make
What kind of candies would I take
Scented, fruit flavoured, sugar coated or plain
My mind was in a whirl yet again
The assistant behind the counter gave guidance and advice
Her attitude and helpfulness was very, very nice
Through your paper if I may
Thank you to her I'd like to say
If you are in Driffield please call at Sugarshack
Where there is a helpful assistant and childhood dreams float back
PS: My final purchase was an ornamental watering can, in a shade of powder blue
Filled to the brim with candies of a rainbow hue.
