THE East Yorkshire Embroidery Society's guest speaker at its last meeting was Hillary Hollingsworth who travelled from Preston in Lancashire to talk about her life's work.
Hillary's background was in fashion, media and promotion and she is now a fashion lecturer at Huddersfield College. She said that though fashion was in her head, it was stitching that was in her heart. She works on recurring themes - family photographs, memories, the button box, and landscapes.

Her brightly coloured scenes from India were reminiscent of Hockney paintings and her most recent landscapes were inspired by views from the train on her daily commute between Preston and Huddersfield.

The society's next meeting is on Saturday April 12 when Patricia Archibald will speak on 'A Creative Journey to the Top of Africa'. Venue - The Darby and Joan Hall, Finkle Street, Cottingham. Doors open at 2pm and visitors are welcome after 2.15pm.
