My wife and I are shocked and appalled to learn from the November 21 Beverley Guardian (the Driffield Times' sister paper) that the Tribfest, which was banned by the East Riding Council after the noise, nuisance and disturbance which it caused at Kelleythorpe last year is seeking a new venue at the Beverley Polo Club.

We further understand that although no permission has yet been obtained from either the East Riding Council nor the Tickton and Routh Council.

We understand that the polo club owner Mr A Foreman is proposing to authorise ticket sales as from De
cember 1 2008.

Our objections are as follows:

The polo club already causes traffic problems for the A1035 on polo match days, which are far less well attended than will be the case of the proposed tribfest and, the polo events only last for a few hours rather than three nights and days.

'Thousands of revellers' descended on the Driffield Show Ground, much larger area, last year according to one of the organisers.

There is just not enough room on the polo club ground for this type of vehicular influx.

In consequence Tickton Main Street will most probably be the initial preferred option with Churchfields, Green Lane, St Paul's, and Carr Lane also being hi jacked for that purpose.

One of the reasons for councillors refusing permission was the noise; a single carriageway main road only separates the Polo Club from tightly packed housing on the St. Paul's housing project.

No permission has yet been given for this event and yet the organiser is preparing to sell tickets (shades of Costa Coffee in Toll Beverley?).
