Regarding the proposed cattle market development; I was disgusted that certain town councillors had a tent on Market Place gathering signatures against the development.
Surely, they should, therefore, have also been collecting signatures of those who are FOR IT.
After all, they are councillors who are supposed to represent all the town's people, and not just the people who agree to their way of thinking.
Whe
n my family and I were collecting signatures for the skate park, we were told by these same councillors that we must get signatures for both sides, which we did.
I agree that the traffic problems needed to be addressed, but the plans have supposed to have been amended so it seems to me that they are just against the project altogether.
May I remind these councillors that we have already entered the 21st century. People are already going out of town to do their main shop of the week. Driffield is already dying.
We have built new housing estates and there are a lot more housing developments still in the pipeline - where are these new householders going to find jobs?
If people have to go to other towns to find work and to do their weekly shop, they may as well live in these other towns.
So come on, let Driffield be the Capital of the Wolds once again.
Also, whilst all the debating has been going on, has anyone at least thought about looking into getting this cattle market eyesore demolished so as to at least make it safe?
Mr and Mrs T Hall. of Eastgate North, Driffield
