Humber to the Wash Open Art Exhibition 2009

Artists from East Yorkshire and Hull to the north and Norfolk to the south are being invited to take part in this year's major summer exhibition at Barton upon Humber's Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft gallery.

The exhibition, which opens in early June, will be held in both the Artspace and GalleryOne at the Maltkiln Road gallery, and the works can be on any theme and in any medium.

Exhibitions Officer at The Ropewalk, Richard Hatfield, said this is the second such exhibition held at The Ropewalk and open to artists from throughout the region.

"Our first open Humber to the Wash exhibition was held in 2007 and proved to be so popular that we decided to alternate it with our annual Open Print Show which was held last year," he said.

"It is open to all artists who live or work in the counties of East Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire and Norfolk," he continued.

For the exhibition, artists are entitled to submit up to four pieces of work with an entry fee for each of 3.

Work must be submitted over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend from 10am to 5pm on May 22 and 23 and from 10am to 4pm on May 24 and May 25.

"Selection for the exhibition, by a panel of two guest selectors, will take place on Tuesday, May 26 and there will be, amongst others, a selectors' prize of 400," said Richard.

The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, June 6 and continues until Sunday, September 6. As with all exhibitions at Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft there is no admission charge.

Full details about the exhibition, along with the entry form, can be found on www.the-ropewalk.co.uk
