New town signs
Sign ps1205-18 New Great Driffield Signs Joyce Fletcher, Dulcie Homer 3
VISITORS to Driffield will receive an even greater welcome thanks to new signs that have been put up at the entrances to the town.
Pictured is Driffield Town Mayor Joyce Fletcher and her three-year-old grand-daughter Dulcie admiring one of the new ‘Welcome to Great Driffield’ signs on Beverley Road.
The signs have been installed by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council at the request of Driffield Town Council at a total cost of just over £3,500.
They have replaced outdated signs at seven points of entry into the town including Nafferton, Wansford, Scarborough Road, Spellowgate, Little Driffield and Skerne Road.
The design of the signs, each one measuring 1.5 metres wide by one metre high and standing three metres above ground, was voted on by Driffield Town Council.
Over the coming months the Tidy Team will be building flower beds at the base of each sign.
