Sykes Lodge of Freemasons

MORE than 80 attended the 19th annual carol service held at Nafferton Church.

Everyone was welcomed by the Rev Jean Artley and Ivan Pick who then thanked Chris Atkinson on behalf of everyone for his efforts in organising this event over the previous 18 years.

The unusual feature of this year's service was that seven of the lessons were read by the heads of the Masonic degrees who meet not only in Driffield but also in Bridlington and Pickering. The eighth lesson being read by Lyn Neil, representing the Sykes Ladies, and the last by the Rev Jean Artley.

The service was again supported by the Ad Hoc Singers who have sung at all the previous services and this year they enhanced a most memorable evening by singing several anthems.

The evening was suitably concluded with tea and mince pies.
