Wagoners lecture at Beverley Treasure House
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Archives and Local Studies Service has organised a short series of lectures which starts on Tuesday February 7 with ‘Wagoners’ Memorial, Sledmere – re-visited’ by Dorothy Nott.
Dorothy completed her MA dissertation on the Wagoners’ Memorial in 2009 and is now studying the development of war art from 1850 to 1920 for her doctorate. The Wagoners’ memorial was recently featured on The One Show.
On Friday February 24 Adrian Barlow will present ‘Espying Heaven: the Stained Glass of Charles Eamer Kempe’.
The work of the Kempe studios is represented in a number of East Riding churches. Adrian is a trustee of the Kempe Trust and has recently retired as director of public and professional programmes at the University of Cambridge.
And on Tuesday March 13 Patrick Wildgust will speak on the subject of ‘The Beauties of Sterne’.
Patrick is curator of Shandy Hall in Coxwold, North Yorkshire, and looks after the house, books, prints and paintings held there relating to Laurence Sterne and his writings.
