Bempton visitors encouraged to feed the birds this winter

BUDDING Jamie Oliver's have the chance to do their bit for wildlife at an event organised at the RSPB Bempton Cliffs reserve near Bridlington.
Children - and parents - visiting the reserve next Saturday and Sunday, October 25 and 26, will be able to get stuck into mixing up ingredients to make a super-nutritious cake that will help the birds in their garden survive the coming winter.
The weekend is part of the RSPB's Feed the Birds Day initiative: a national event to encourage us all to help feed the birds through the long winter months.
Ken Proud, RSPB's Bempton Cliffs visitor officer, said: "Feeding birds is vitally important at this time of the year and our gardens play an important role as much of the open countryside becomes less bird friendly. Many birds would not survive the winter without our help, so this is a way we can all help."
