EAST Riding Young Farmers have been strutting their stuff on the catwalk to raise more than £1,000 for a national farming charity.
Young farmers from clubs across the region have taken part in a fashion show and charity challenge at Driffield Showground on behalf of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.

The participants were paired off into eight teams and set the challenge of finding two outfits in a charity shop for £20 using the theme of pop stars and rock legends.

The teams were given 10 days to find and adapt their outfits ahead of the catwalk show which was judged by NFU vice-president, Paul Temple.

RABI regional officer, Sally Conner, said: "It was just such a good night. We had more than 200 people there and the good thing about it was there was such a varied age range, I had invited along ladies in their 70s and there were young farmers. There are very few events where you get such a varied audience having a good night together."

East Riding YFC county organiser, Chris Oxtoby, said the event was a sell-out and was enjoyed by all who attended.

The event was sponsored by Cherrys Country Hardware, of North Frodingham, and included a fashion show of country wear, a pie and pea supper followed by a disco.

All the funds raised will go towards helping RABI continue offering welfare advice, care and financial provision to those in need in the farming community.
