THE rain did not dampen Driffield's enthusiasm for live band music.
More than 2,000 people poured through the gates at Driffield Showground for the annual Midsummer Spectacular.
The Saturday night event raised more than £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care and Dove House Hospice - the final figure will be confirmed at a later date.
Organiser of the Last Night Of The Proms style event, Jacky Bowes of Beverley Road, Driffield, said the night had gone swimmingly, despite the wet weather.
She said: "Everybody had a fabulous night and I think the atmosphere was even better because people were ensconced together under their umbrellas."
Jacky added that two people had been so keen they had travelled from Spain to attend the event, at which the Grimethorpe Colliery Band performed.
She thanked all those who had supported the fundraiser: "Thanks to everybody for turning out, I could not have asked for more, it was brilliant."
Did you go to the event? Did the rain manage to dampen your enthusiasm or did the atmosphere lift the pressure?
