REPOSSESSIONS are on the up according to East Yorkshire Citizens Advice Bureau making it one of their busiest times ever.
But Yvonne Kurvits, bureau manager for East Yorkshire, is keen to get the message across that it is never too late to seek advice.

Mrs Kurvits, who is based at the main bureau, on Prospect Street, in Bridlington said: “We are very busy at the moment especially with people having their houses repossessed.”

“The main message that we want to get over to people is it’s never too late to seek advice, the earlier you seek it the better our chances of solving the problem, even if there’s a warrant for repossession it’s still possible that something can still be done,” she added.

CAB East Yorkshire offers a range of legal and financial advice covering such areas as debt management, welfare benefits and employment.

Thanks to a state of the art video link system their services are now more accessible than ever before.

Computer screens linked up to cameras can be found in CAB customer service centres and kiosks which enable the general public to speak to an adviser face to face without the need to leave their home town or village.

“I think we are about the only place in the county who do this. People love it and we get a lot of repeat customers on it so it’s proving to be a real success,” Ms Kurvits added.

The main bureau is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 2pm and the advice line can be contacted on tel (01482) 393180.

The Driffield branch, on West Garth, Mill Street is open every Thursday from 9.30am to 1.30pm but an appointment is needed and can be arranged by telephoning (01262) 605644.
