A YOUNG motorist has lost his licence after he was caught drink driving.
Ashley James Arnott, 20, of West Street, Leven, got behind the wheel of his Mazda after drinking at a Leven pub.

He pleaded guilty at Beverley Magistrates Court on Thursday to driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol shortly after midni
ght on June 19.

He also admitted assaulting a police officer on the same night.

The prosecution outlined the case against Arnott, who was unrepresented, saying he drove off at speed from the New Inn.

He then hit a stationary camper van causing damage to his own vehicle.

The ambulance crew who were called to the scene and treated Arnott’s injuries called the police when he became violent.

He then became aggressive towards the police officer who tried to calm Arnott down but he grabbed the officer by the throat and pushed him.

Mr Waterson, the magistrate presiding over the hearing told Arnott his behaviour was unacceptable and urged him not to do it again.

He said: “This was totally unacceptable.

“You need to grow up quickly or you will be in court quite often.”

For drink driving Arnott was banned from driving for 22 months, fined £175, reduced to £115 for an early guilty plea, and ordered to pay £43 prosecution costs.
