IT'S fingers crossed for the Driffield In Bloom committee after In Bloom judges visited the town last Friday.
Felicity Temple, secretary of the committee which last year achieved a Silver Gilt award, said judges had named Driffield Railway Station as the best-kept station on the East Coast line.

North End Park and the Memorial Gardens continued to create
a good impression and the committee also paid tribute to Driffield Town Council for the display of hanging baskets, which were highly commended by the In Bloom judges.

“The judges have been fairly favourable,” said Mrs Temple. “Despite the rain they were impressed with the general friendliness of the town.”

But Mrs Temple did admit: “I’m glad they didn’t see Middle Street South because of the cigarette ends. We are going to speak to shop owners about installing bins for cigarette butts, washing shop fronts and keeping the pavement clean.”

Members of Driffield In Bloom are sharing a stand with Driffield Town Council at Driffield Show today.

Driffield residents whose gardens are in bloom are being urged to enter the Driffield In Bloom’s gardens competition by the end of this month. Entry coupons are printed in the Driffield Times and there are various categories.
