DRIFFIELD town centre will host two dazzling parades when the GoldWings Owners' Club of Great Britain national show is held at the Driffield Showground over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
During the open day, on Sunday August 24, which runs from 11am to 4pm, visitors will be able to get close up to the GoldWings and chat with members from all parts of the UK and Europe.
With a variety of trade and food stalls, a licensed bar and activities and competitions for children, it should make for an entertaining day out.
Driffield townsfolk will also be able to see the grand parade of Nations, which will come from the showground and through the town at around 5pm on Saturday August 23. This should be a fine spectacle as usually around 500 GoldWings take part.
A second parade will take place, again through the town, on the Sunday evening at around 8.30pm. This is the GoldWing light parade - many of the bikes will be adorned with show lights.
Last Saturday, shoppers in Driffield were given the opportunity to have preview and a close up look at some of the Honda GoldWings that will be taking part in the show.
These machines are one of the most expensive touring bikes in the world and have a host of touring features including cruise control, ABS brakes, radio/MP3, and a rider-passenger communication system to name but a few.
A handful of the Yorkshire region's club members came into town last Saturday on their bikes to promote the Bank Holiday event and chatted with interested shoppers.
The four-day event is a club event, but it also has a public open day on Bank Holiday Sunday and the £2 adult admission price (children go free) will be donated to the Alfred Bean Day Care Centre, Driffield, as will all the charity proceeds from the weekend.
