A YEAR of fundraising has paid off and Driffield youngsters can now enjoy a new £10,000 play area.
Supporters of the Driffield Methodist Church Playgroup have spent the past year raising money to pay for the much-needed area.

The soft-surface area features a large gazebo with colourful toys and an outdoor classroom, which is suitable for all weathers.

Mandy Ross, co-ordinator of the playgroup, said they were very proud that most of the money was raised by the group.

She said: "We are absolutely delighted because it's going to help the children's outside learning immensely, and we are very proud of the fact that we funded most of it ourselves."

Around £8,000 of the funding was pulled together by the playgroup and the remainder was received in small grants.

The playgroup will hold a grand opening on May 23.
