LEADING Christian Aid Week fund raiser, Ross Weekes, is calling for people in the Driffield area to rally behind the cause and help make this year's collection the best ever.
It is Christian Aid Week from May 11 to 18 and volunteers will be working hard in the town and surrounding area to raise money to help people in need "anywhere and everywhere".

Mr Weekes said: "Volunteers will be on the streets of Driffield in the
hope that once again local people will prove as generous as ever.

"During 2008, thanks to some good publicity, people seem to be more aware than ever before of the good work that Christian Aid does."
This year's fund raising push includes a few alternative events, including a Christian Aid Yorkshire quiz, and question sheets will be available from shops in the town.

On Friday May 16, thanks to the kindness and co-operation of the Driffield Town Cricket and Recreation Club, there will be a round of the nationwide Quizaid Quiz. Organisers are hoping for a good turn-out.
On Saturday, May 10, the marvellous Driffield-based singing group, Cantando, will present a concert to raise money for Christian Aid in the Methodist Church Lower Hall, starting at 7pm.

This popular group is going from strength to strength, bright young voices blending well with their more mature colleagues.

Mr Weekes said: "All these splendid efforts can only reinforce the house-to-house collection, where hopefully most of the money is raised.
"So, fellow Driffielders, please give generously so that Christian Aid can help people."
