A NAFFERTON man has been given three penalty points on his driving licence and ordered to pay a £135 fine after failing to stop at a level crossing.
John Harrison, 80, pleaded guilty at Bridlington Magistrates Court to the charge of failing to stop at the Carnaby level crossing on Bridlington Bay Road.

According to Mike Waudby, prosecuting, Mr Harrison was caught on camera 2.72 seconds after the warning lights started to flash.

In his defence, Mr Harrison said: "I stress I was already at the approach to the rail track when the light first showed. If I had braked I would have stopped between the gates. My speed was under 30mph due to the fact that I was turning into the waste recycling centre."

Mr Harrison, of Parsonage Close, Nafferton, was given three penalty points on his licence and ordered to pay a fine of £135, court costs of £40 and a £15 victim surcharge.
