THE sacrifices made by RAF crews based at Leconfield in the Second World War have been remembered with the unveiling of a new memorial this week.
The memorial, a stanchion from the former Hangar 4 which still sports bullet holes from when it was attacked by the Luftwaffe, was formally opened by Air Marshal Stephen Dalton in the ceremony on Wednesday.
Dozens of veterans joined their modern day service counterparts for the service, which was led by the Revd Brian Walton.
