New officers at charter dinner

A TOTAL of 41 members and guests of the East Riding Dialect Society met at the Expanse Hotel, Bridlington, for their charter dinner and were welcomed by their new chairman, Dorothy Perkins, of Withernsea.
The new president, Audrey Bemrose, of Bridlington, was installed with her badge of office by the retiring president, David Rank, of Wold Newton.

The annual competition for dialect writing was won by Sylvia Hookham, of Hessle. Chris Whitfield, of Wetwang, and Mr Peter Burnell, Lissett. tied for second place.
