GREEN-FINGERED residents of Driffield have been given a pat on the back by town councillors for their horticultural efforts.
According to the town council’s allotment committee the plots of land on Cemetery Lane are going from strength to strength with the general standard of the site improving.

According to committee member Brian Fairfield the general atmosphere at the allotments is very good, there is excellent communication and back up from the town council and the waiting list is considerable.

Chairman of the Allotment Committee Coun Steve Poessl said: “It’s really pleasing to see the allotments go from strength to strength with us having a queue for people to have them, it’s brilliant. It just goes to show, a few years ago it was practically empty so it’s a real improvement.”

The committee have identified a number of problems at the allotments, including dog fouling, water taps being left on, and some fences being blown down in the wind, which they have vowed to address in due course.
