TWO VILLAGE schools have joined forces for a better future.
Boynton and Wold Newton schools will come under the headship of Joe Dodd, headteacher at Boynton School from September.
The collaboration means both schools can share a bigger pool of skills and facilities, whilst keeping their own character and identity.

That includes each school's individual budget, uniform, ethos and values, together with the current class stru
cture which will continue.
"The sharing of resources and teaching skills will benefit everyone,"

said Mr Dodd, headteacher at Boynton for the past 13 years.
Head teacher at Wold Newton, Jane Bellamy, is leaving at the end of this term to take up a headship in the south of England.

The new "villages school" will have around 160 pupils. Its aim is to offer parents the choice of a good small school, where every child is treated as an individual, whilst being part of a larger organisation that can draw upon a greater range of staff expertise and opportunities to share work and experiences.

Mark Hall, chair of Boynton governors, said: "We have been given an opportunity to co-construct a model of school organisation that meets the needs of the 21st century School." Mrs Lesley Wood, chair of Wold Newton governors, said: "Collaboration will allow us to create a richer and sustainable educational experience for children in their own communities."

The two schools celebrated their forthcoming joining together with a cricket match of mixed teams. "The collaboration also opens up wider sports opportunities for both schools," said Mr Dodd.

The collaboration follows a similar exercise recently between Gembling and North Froddingham schools.
