St John Ambulance recognition for Fred's first aid training work with Army Cadet Force

AT an investiture at the Grand Priory Church of the Order of St John, Clerkenwell, London, Major Fred Owen, of Skirlaugh, was one of three ACF postulants recognised for their work in the field of first-aid through the Army Cadet Force.
The investiture was conducted by the Prior, Sir Brian Jenkins, who was acting on the instructions of the Queen, the Sovereign Head of the Order.

Major Fred Owen is the Officer Commanding B Company, Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force, which has 11 detachments throughout the eest of Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Throughout his 18 years' service with the ACF, Major Owen has been actively involved in training cadets in first-aid and is a member of the National Army Cadet Force Association First Aid Panel.

He now regularly attends the National Cadet Training Centre at Frimley Park, Surrey, to develop the cadet force adult volunteers in teaching first-aid.

Fred is fully supported with his voluntary role by his employees, St John Ambulance, where he is the business and training manager for the Humberside region.

The Order of St. John, or to give it its full name, The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem, is of Royal Charter and was granted by Queen Victoria in 1888, and is an Order of Chivalry of the British Crown.
