THIS year's Old Folks' Tea Party was hailed the best-ever for donations.
Around 250 elderly residents from the town attended the event at Driffield School where they enjoyed a meal complete with Christmas cake and trifle.

Alan Cousins, chairman of the Old Folks Tea and Entertainment Committee, said: “In all the years I have been doing it this is the best year I have ever known for donations.”

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and organisations, around £6,000 has been donated to the committee, a sum which Mr Cousins believes will be more than enough to cover the cost of this year’s and next year’s events.

The committee thanked everyone who has supported it, including the Driffield and District Lions Club for providing transport free of charge and Costello’s Bakery for donating the Christmas cake.

More pictures from the Old Folks’ Tea Party were published in Wednesday’s edition of the Driffield Times.
