DRIFFIELD MP Greg Knight is warning holidaymakers about a new credit card scam being used on British tourists visiting Spain, France and the USA.
'Dynamic Currency Conversion' offers travellers the option of making a payment abroad in British Pounds rather than the local currency.

Mr Knight said: "Unfortunately, the exchange rate then applied to the transaction is highly unfavorable to the customer".

"Whether you're shopping, dining or just putting fuel in your car, you should always pay in the local currency when abroad."

"The scheme is not illegal but unscrupulous merchants can add up to five per cent to the cost of a holiday abroad without the customer knowing".

Mr Knight said: "The best insurance against this sort of foreign currency scam is to holiday in the UK."

"In East Yorkshire we have beautiful countryside, good seafood and some of the best hospitality around."
