Man punched in the face during late-night attack in Scarborough

A man has suffered a facial injury after being attacked late at night in Scarborough.

North Yorkshire Police were called to St Nicholas Street in Scarborough at around 3.20am on Sunday January 8 to reports of an assault.

The victim, aged in his 30s, from Bishop Auckland, County Durham, was punched in the face by another man after he intervened in an altercation between two women.

Officers are now urging passers-by who may have witnessed the punch to come forward. In particular, they are appealing for a man and woman who had been at Sanctuary Bar.
