Students and staff from the Music Department at Driffield School are very excited about their upcoming musical tour to Holland.
On 26 May, 35 students from years 7-10 (accompanied by 3 members of staff) will set off to entertain audiences in venues in two Dutch cities: Maastrichts’ Bandstand in the city centre and Drielanden Maze, the largest maze in Europe.
The students taking part are from the Year 10 Girls’ Choir, the School Band and our Big Ensemble. The teachers have been planning this trip since October 2013 and now it is only a few days away!
We will be performing in our individual groups and then coming together for big pieces with the whole group. This includes Mr Couper’s composition, the ‘Valkenmamba’, especially created for Holland.
We will be staying in Valkenburg for 4 days and 3 nights and in our free time we will also get the chance to do laser tag, bowling, tobogganing, a cable car ride and a train ride through Valkeburg’s Caves. We are all really looking forward to the tour and would like to say a special “thank you” to Mr Couper, Mrs Crossland and Mr Clark for organising the tour, taking us and supporting the school bands.
