Highway drainage works have started in Great Gutter Lane (West), in Willerby, which is the first phase of the £14.4 million Willerby and Derringham Flood Alleviation Scheme (WaDFAS), a partnership scheme between East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council.

The works will see the current drainage system upgraded, with larger sized gullies and pipe work that will feed into the second phase of the scheme which consists of a large lagoon at Robson’s Cottage, one of a number being created including at Albion Mills and Carr Lane.

Phase one of the works, which is anticipated to be complete by the summer at a cost of circa £500,000, is being delivered by Hull-based contractor, Wright Civil Engineering Limited.
