A Hallowe’en harvest
DRIFFIELD youngsters have harvested a brilliant crop of Hallowe’en pumpkins with some help from their childminder.
Children looked after by registered Driffield childminder Andrea Kerry of Lowndes Park have been growing pumpkins from seeds.
Andrea has an allotment on Spellowgate which she uses to educate the children she cares for about where food comes from and how it is grown.
Andrea said: “The children planted the pumpkins as seeds and have looked after them until we harvested them.
“We had over 40 pumpkins weighing between one and half stone and three stones - every child we look after got a pumpkin to take home and carve.”
Andrea also told the Times & Post how much the children enjoyed growing the pumpkins and pleased they were with the end result.
