A Driffield man is going to miss his own stag weekend – so he can go to Wembley to watch Hull City play in the FA Cup Final.

Scott Wood, 25, of Spellowgate, was faced with a tough decision when he realised Hull were in the final – because he and twenty mates had booked a trip to Barcelona on the same weekend.

But Scott, who has been a Hull City season ticket holder for 14 years, said: “I was never going to miss the FA Cup Final. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, especially for a club like Hull City.”

At least Scott, who works at Driffield Electrical Supplies, will not to be alone at Wembley this Saturday – because seven other members of the stag party have also cancelled the flight to Barcelona.

Instead, the group will fly to Spain on Sunday morning where they will join the rest of the party.

Scott added: “Everyone knows the score. There were some people who still wanted to go to Barcelona because they had paid for it, and obviously some people have no interest in Hull City.

“We’ll still go on the Sunday and have booked an extra night so we’ll come home on the Tuesday.”

Scott will marry his sweetheart Fawn Edeson at Lowthorpe Church on June 7.

As yet the couple are undecided on a honeymoon location, but Scott hopes to tie it in with one of Hull City’s fixtures in Europe next season.

His devotion to Hull City resulted in him seeing 404 consecutive matches, home and away, over ten years.

The run was broken in August 2012 when a road accident prevented his group getting to the Charlton Athletic match in London when they were just a mile away from the ground, stuck on the M11.

But he was much happier to miss an away game at Nottingham Forest in December 2012 when his daughter was born.

Meanwhile, plans for rescuing the stag weekend have now suffered a blow because the lads were hoping to watch Barcelona versus Atletico Madrid on Sunday –but that game has now been moved to Saturday because it is a league decider. The lads had also booked a guided tour of Barcelona’s stadium – the Nou Camp – but have now been told it can’t go ahead because of the new media attention surrounding such a high-profile game.

Scott admitted that his bride had chosen a much easier location for her hen night – Leeds.

Die-hard Hull City fan Chris Tayson, from Nafferton, is flying in for the stag weekend from Dubai, where he works in financial services.

He also made the trip to Wembley from Dubai for the semi-final.

Best man at the wedding will be Danny Cousins, from Driffield, who ran the London Marathon on the same day as he watched Hull City in the semi-final.
