Be a Midnight Walker
STAFF and volunteers at the Sue Ryder Care shop in Driffield are calling every woman to gather her friends and relatives together for a sponsored Midnight Walk for women only.
Last year more than 200 walkers aged between nine and 70 raised 15,000 for Sue Ryder Care by simply donning their trainers and walking 10km.
This year the women-only sponsored walk takes place on May 15 and will again be hosted by Sewerby Hall, Bridlington.
Deborah Rack, of Sue Ryder Care, said: “This year we are hoping for our biggest turn-out yet to make it a night to remember.
“It’s great that the staff and volunteers at the Sue Ryder Care shop in Driffield are getting behind the event and encouraging their customers to sign up.”
Walkers will follow the foreshore in Bridlington from Sewerby Hall to the Belvedere and back, covering a total of 10km, and this year the charity has announced that East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the Harbour Commissioners will be providing more toilets along the route.
Every participant will be given a T-shirt, medal and breakfast for an entry fee of 15, or 12 before February 12, with all proceeds going to help Sue Ryder Care continue providing vital end-of-life and neurological care to people with life-limiting illness.
Anyone wanting to get involved but who does not fancy the idea of walking can still get in touch as Sue Ryder Care is always on the look-out for volunteers to help the Midnight Walk run smoothly.
Local businesses are also invited to get involved by sponsoring the event in return for their logo appearing along the route on the night.
