Beverley apprentice has the spirit

Beverley pub employee Claire Duffill is celebrating having been awarded a Team Player Apprenticeship qualification by her employer Spirit Pub Company.

Claire, who is a Team Player at The Hayride Fayre and Square pub on Grange Way in Beverley, was one of over 30 apprentices who were officially recognised at a special awards ceremony at Alton Towers in Staffordshire.

The Level 2 Food and Beverage Apprenticeship is a twelve month learning and development programme that includes on the job training, individually tailored learning and one to one support, which results in a qualification worth the equivalent of five GCSEs.

Claire said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship, being able to learn while I work was definitely a key draw for me; allowing me to learn new skills while also building on my practical experience. I’m looking forward to taking on my next apprenticeship and continuing my development.”

Spirit’s Apprenticeship Programme, which has now passed the 1,000 candidates milestone, was created to provide a clear career pathway for those working in the hospitality sector and offer an alternative to university for those keen to progress through a vocational route.

Mark Peters, Head of Learning & Development for Spirit, said: “We are proud to recognise our team members that have undertaken apprenticeships. It takes commitment, dedication and determination to complete an apprenticeship and Claire has shown that she has what it takes to progress.”

Spirit Pub Company owns and manages 791 pubs across the UK under brands such as Chef & Brewer, Fayre & Square, Flaming Grill, John Barras and Taylor Walker.
