A coach firm who formerly worked throughout Driffield has taken delivery of two more state-of-the-art vehicles as it continues to expand its top of the range fleet.

East Yorkshire-based coach holiday specialist, Acklams Coaches’, latest arrivals - a luxury coach and a double decker – represent a further investment of more than £400,000, bringing the company’s total spend on new vehicles in the past two to three years to £1.1m.

Specialising in hand-picked destinations throughout the United Kingdom, many of them far away from the ‘volume’ coach holiday routes, Acklams is on track to break its own records this year with the number of miles travelled likely to top 1.1m and the number of holidaymakers expected to rise from 600 in 2013 to 1,200 this year.

Director Alan Acklam says the company’s success is as a result of choosing the right destinations, investing in the best vehicles and the introduction of their door-to-door service.

He said: “Some of our coach holidays are to what many would see as the usual destinations but we try to offer something different.

“For example, this year we are taking people on boats and trains holidays in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, to some of the best known stately homes, gardens and castles, a ‘Panda Experience’ at Edinburgh Zoo and many more traditional UK tourist destinations”.

The company which has headquarters in Beverley, and a booking office in Hull, has a workforce of 45 and a fleet of 24 vehicles.
