A day out for all ages is to be held to mark Bishop Burton College’s European Junior equestrian Championship on Saturday 16 August.
The event will feature spectacular international equestrian competition alongside a fun-packed day of family activities.
As part of the European Junior Championships competitors from all over Europe will be participating in the cross country phase of the event which is being hosted by the College from 14th -17th August. The cross country is the second stage of the competition and the purpose built course at Bishop Burton will prove both exciting and challenging for horse & rider.
As well as the main equestrian event visitors will also be able to take part and enjoy lots of family orientated activities and displays. Including: A dog show, bouncy castles, children’s activities, farm machinery and of course, our animal management units, which include our otters, meerkats, lemurs & reptiles house.
Visitors are also able to take part in a feeding experience with these unusual animals. Pre- booking is advised for these hands-on experiences, which will take place throughout the day with a knowledgeable keeper who will show visitors how to prepare and distribute food to the animals.
The newly redesigned walled garden will also be open for visitors to browse with tours conducted by the College’s gardening team during the day.
Equine displays will be taking place in our Olympic standard Bishop Burton arena including thrilling, fast paced horse ball competition and a quadrille ride performed with retrained racehorses.
Visitors can feel free to take a picnic and enjoy the College’s countryside surroundings or pick up a bite to eat from one of the many catering outlets open throughout the day.
Gates open 10.30am to 5pm. Admission is £10 per car.
