A recent survey conducted by MoneySupermarket.com, shows Driffield is one of the safest places to live in the country.

The survey which analysed 3.1 million home insurance quotes over the last 12 months has identified the places most and least likely to file a burglary claim, with Driffield coming joint top for the least likely place to be burgled.

Neighbourhood Inspector for Beverley and Driffield, Rob Cocker said: “It does not surprise me that Driffield is one of the safest towns to live in the UK.

“It is a reflection on the residents who have a strong rural community spirit. Driffield has high employment, good local facilities and schools. Those who are brought up in the town are unlikely to turn to life of crime. The town and surrounding area has active watch groups run by local residents who greatly assist the police with information on travelling criminals.”

Detective Inspector Paul Kirby, who oversees all burglary investigations for the Driffield and Bridlington area added: “Previous burglaries were committed by travelling criminals who were not residents of Driffield. We make every effort to prevent burglary in the East Riding and bring those responsible to justice. Every forensic opportunity is taken to identify an offender from a crime scene.”

The survey showed those who live in London and Manchester are the most likely to be victims of burglary.
