East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group celebrates its first year in health at Annual General Meeting

East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group will hold its annual general meeting at the Mercure Hotel, Windows on the Park Suite in Willerby on Thursday 12 June between 5.30pm and 7.45pm.

An informal drop-in will offer an opportunity for people to meet Board and GP members and find out more about “involve”, a new patient network which provides an opportunity for people who live in the East Riding of Yorkshire to learn more about the NHS and to be more closely involved in shaping local services.

From 7pm the group will present a review of the year’s highlights and the Council of Members will formally adopt the Annual Report.

Dr Gina Palumbo, Clinical Chair of the CGG said: “We would very much like people to come along to help us celebrate our first year as a CCG. I am extremely proud of our achievements over the past year during this time of unprecedented change and transformation within the NHS. As a CCG, we are passionate about supporting healthy independent living within the East Riding. There are challenges that we face as a CCG in the next few years and we have developed our future plans to address these. Some of the things we have prioritised during the last year are providing the foundations for building a more sustainable, responsive, patient-centred NHS.”

Highlights from the year 2013/14 include:

Improving services for older people – the group have introduced clinics in primary care (GP practices) which look to care for people with long term conditions in a holistic way rather than dealing with each condition as a separate entity.

Improving emergency care services - the group have commissioned a comprehensive falls prevention and management service and also increased access to minor injury services over the winter months at weekends as a local alternative to A&E where appropriate

Improving planned care services – the group have increased engagement activities with the population to listen and respond to their views.

The group have also worked in partnership to improve patient experience.
