Folk and acoustic music lovers are in for a seasonal treat as Driffield’s Bell Hotel is about to be taken over for a ‘winter gathering of folk’ hosted by Moonbeams.

Moonbeams March Folk Weekend takes place on the evening of Friday 7 March and all day Saturday 8 March using the hotel to host an impressive line up of artists including Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston -one of the most sought after duos on the English folk and roots scene.

Organiser Leila Cooper said: “Show of Hands are one of my favourite bands and their double-bass player Miranda has such a lot to offer in her own right – great music and so nice to work with.”

Other acts include Steve Tilston, The Young Un’s, Ewan McLennan, NE3Folk, Boss Caine, Wendy Arrowsmith, Kirsty Bromley, Nick Rooke Band, Carol Henderson, Dan Wilde, Edwina Hayes, Hissyfit and Andy Stones.

Moonbeams music concerts have been held regularly at The Bell for over six years- and this is the second time it has used the hotel for a full weekend following the success of the 2013 event.

Mrs Cooper simply cannot wait for her summer event - the annual Moonbeams Wold Top Festival held each July at Hunmanby’s Wold Top Brewery - so now organises this special treat for her own enjoyment as much as everyone else’s.

Leila added: “Our summer festival is such a lovely occasion so I wanted to do something earlier in the year as well. It had to be somewhere warm and cosy so we chose our usual town venue.

“March seems to be a great time to do it - something to look forward to after all the horrible weather we’ve had recently. Last year the weekend went so well we just had to do it again.”

Whilst the music will be based indoors at the Moonbeams March Folk Weekend, there are camping facilities nearby for those wanting the festival ‘experience’ and the hotel has been offering a special deal on rooms for ticket buyers.

Moonbeams have kept ticket prices sensible to ensure its success - an adult ticket to see all the weekend’s events is just £30! This year there are also Friday only tickets available (£15) and Saturday only (£22) and concession prices for youth (£15) and child (£10). Camping at Driffield Showground is £7.50 per night per unit. Tickets are available online via
