Charity minded solicitor David Lundy, of Exchange Street, Driffield, is urging people to use his services to write a Will but not to pay them.
Instead he invites clients to donate the money to Will Aid – a charity scheme designed to get more people to write their Will and to raise funds for popular charities at the same time.
Will Aid solicitors will draw up a basic Will and, instead of charging a fee, ask clients to make a donation to Will Aid. All the money donated is shared by nine of the UK’s best loved charities: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N. Ireland). The suggested donation is just £90 for a single Will, £135 for a pair of mirror Wills.
Shirley Marsland of Will Aid says: “Many people simply don’t get around to making a Will, even though they know they should. Making a Will is one of the most considerate things you can do for your loved ones. If you act now and make a Will with a Will Aid solicitor, not only will your family thank you, but so will nine of the UK’s best loved charities.”
Will Aid just lasts for the month of November and the solicitors taking part warn that appointments are booking up fast so you need to hurry to make sure you don’t miss out. Call a participating solicitor direct to book or contact the Will Aid helpline on 0300 0300 013. Further information is available at www.willaid.org.uk
