Have your say about play area
RESIDENTS are being invited to have their say about a new play area for Hutton Cranswick at a public meeting being held tonight.
A group of villagers are currently exploring the idea of revamping and modernising the current play area on the Village Green.
Gina Simpson, of the newly formed Play Area Group, said it is hoped the new area will not only cater for the needs of younger children but older ones too.
“The current play area has really reached the end of its tether,” Mrs Simpson said.
“It does cater for those of a very much younger age group and we want to try to include something for the older children,” she added.
Ideas about the project, including illustrations, have gone on display at Hutton Cranswick primary School where there will be an open meeting from 7pm tonight.
Residents are invited to attend the meeting, express their opinions and put forward their own ideas about the proposal.
Mrs Simpson said that ideas have already been gathered from some residents, local councillors and teenagers but now it is the turn of the general public to have their say.
“We want to put it to the residents. Although we have a lot of residents involved in the Play Area Group and we have teenagers involved with their ideas we want to throw it back into the ball court of the general public,” she said.
It is not yet known how much the new play area will cost but an organisation is to be formed to raise money and project manage.
Anyone who would like to get involved is asked to contact members of the Play Area Group - Gina Simpson on (01377) 270173, Steve Denison on (01377) 271874 or Sally Gowthorpe on (01377) 270213.
