Hospice thanks for Driffield pub donation
SAINT Catherine's Hospice fundraisers have said thank you to staff and regulars at the Blue Bell, Riverhead, Driffield, for a donation.
Pub worker Nikki Young, who works at the pub, and her brother Simon, lost their mum Christine earlier this year and wanted raise funds to thank Saint Catherine's for the care it gave her.
She teamed up with landlady Maxine Sach to organise a charity night at the pub and raised 273 for hospice funds.
The evening saw many people turn out in party dress to enjoy entertainment, which included local band Chaser.
"It was a great evening that Mum would have been very proud of," said Nikki.
Saint Catherine's fundraising assistant, Amanda Welburn, said: "We want to say a huge thank you to Nikki for organising this event. It was a lovely way to honour her mum's memory. We are most grateful to everyone who gave so generously, so that more families like Nikki's can be helped at Saint Catherine's."
Saint Catherine's Hospice provides in and out-patient care, neurology support, bereavement support and day care for patients across a 1,600 square mile area, including Driffield, Bridlington, Filey, Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.
It covers the largest geographical area of any hospice in Britain other than the highlands of Scotland.
