The monthly Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market is set to return to the bridge viewing area in Hessle, on Sunday 1st June from 9am to 1pm.

Featuring more than 100 stalls selling the best in seasonal, regional produce, and a dedicated section for arts and crafts, the event has become the largest of its kind in the region and is attended by in excess of 5,000 people monthly.

Last month’s market saw the launch of a new vintage bus service, providing novelty transportation between the Humber Bridge Country Park (Humber Bridge Car Park), Barton town centre and Hessle town square on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month.

Neil Marshall, Head of Resources at the Humber Bridge, said:

“We were delighted with the success of the new vintage bus service and we have received positive feedback from our visitors. With summer around the corner, the market is a great place to visit and the new bus service makes the event accessible to even more people in the area.”

At June’s event, market-goers can expect to see an array of seasonal produce on offer – all of which is grown in the region. Wimbledon may not be here quite yet, but it’s perfect timing for strawberries and cream. And that’s not forgetting the other fruit and vegetables that are in season, such as raspberries, rocket, peas, tomatoes, spring onions and watercress.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to win a £25 gift voucher to spend at the next market, by voting for their favourite stall in the ‘Trader of the Month’ competition. Market-goers can vote by visiting www.facebook.com/humberbridgeevents, or by emailing their nominations to traderofthemonth@humberbridgeevents.co.uk

The Humber Bridge Farmers’ Market, which holds accreditation from the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association (FARMA), is held on the first Sunday of every month, from 9am to 1pm, and ample free parking is available on site.
